Terry went on a golf trip with his dad, brother, uncles and cousins (Thurs-Sun). Therefore Jack and I were left to fend for ourselves and boy did we have fun! For some reason Jack was not sleeping through the night last week (he kept waking up at midnight to eat - after going to bed at 9?). The pediatrician thought he was going through another growth spurt... So going into the weekend I was a little apprehensive but my angel of a son decided to give his momma some much needed rest and started sleeping through the night again all 3 nights Terry was away. We had lots of fun reading books, taking baths (sometimes twice a day - he loves them!), and rolling around on the floor. Jack can now roll from his front to his back therefore there is no stopping him. He'll roll halfway across the room, look back at me and just laugh! He got caught on Saturday between the chair and ottoman and did not find it very amusing. I on the other hand thought it was hilarious. Sunday morning we slept in and skipped church - probably not the best idea since Jack is being baptized in a month but I thought it might be too hard without Terry there to pass him back and forth.
Jack turns 5 months on Wednesday therefore we're going to start rice cereal next weekend. Our pediatrician would prefer that we wait until 6 months since he's doing so well on breast milk alone. However Terry and I are leaving for California that week and we'd prefer to be there when he experiences the first few weeks of solid food. You never know how babies will react. Yes you read that correctly Terry and I are taking a trip ALONE when Jack turns 6 months. I'm sure some of you are gasping while others are saying "good for you". This is a trip we've always wanted to go on and even though he'll be mad when we're gone he doesn't have any concept of time therefore he'll soon forget when we get back. My parents and grandparents will be showering him with love and attention in Kirksville. They are really looking forward to it! Although my mom and dad joke that they'll need to bring a moving van down to STL to pick up all of his stuff for an entire week: pack-in-play, swing, jumperoo, floor mat & toys, clothes, bottles, 2 coolers full of breast milk - WOW that is a lot of stuff!
I don't have any pictures of this weekend because I took mostly videos (and I still don't know how to load them on here) but I will leave you with 2 pictures that his daycare sent me a few weeks ago:

Giggle Monster!
Jack's newest/cutest thing is he giggles and it is by far the best sound I've ever heard in my life! It's a combination of dolphin and wild bird...if you can only imagine. His favorite activity is to grab my face and give me kisses. At least I'm going to pretend that is what he's trying to do...Terry thinks it looks like he's trying to "eat" my face. But whatever I'll take what I can get. Then I make pig noises and kiss his neck - He goes CRAZY!! If I could figure out how to load videos I would totally post a clip we got the other day. But here are some pics instead:
This is Jack trying to "eat" my face.
He is also loving his Jumperoo that Grandma and Papa got for him:

Happy 4th of July!
Jack's First 4th of July!
(cute outfit courtesy of Nana)
Jack got to spend a lot of quality time with his Uncle Ryan over the last two weeks (Ryan stayed with us while working for Terry). I caught this sweet encounter on camera...
"This is a great book Uncle Ryan!"
"I love that it lights up and sings to me."
"Hey! Why did you stop reading?"
"Are you trying to make me laugh?"
"Ahhh...it worked! You're so funny Ryan!"
"What are you looking at Mom?"
We had a busy weekend. First hosting Terry's family on Saturday and then going to my Grandma's (Jack's Great-Grandma aka Gigi) lake house on Sunday. Here are some of the pics:

Happy 1st Father's Day (tomorrow)!
So a lot happened this week -
1st thing was that Jack rolled over on Thursday night!!! And we missed it...then he rolled over again on Friday morning and we missed it....we were starting to think that he was purposely rolling over when we left the room! But we finally saw it happen a few times today. It's really funny because he only goes from his back to his front. When he realizes that he's on his belly he starts to get mad and yell (really loud).
2nd big thing was Jack's first trip to the swimming pool :) We went in the evening so it wasn't so hot and the sun was going down. Jack wasn't that amused. He likes the warm bath water much more. He lasted a whole 5 minutes then fell asleep in my arms therefore I sat in a lawn chair and watched Terry swim laps. He's training for a triathlon.
3rd thing was Jack found his feet and boy does he love to play with them! He's trying so hard to put them in his mouth it's hysterical.
Tomorrow is Terry's 1st Father's Day. I can honestly say I married my best friend and each day with him is a gift. I couldn't have asked for a better husband or dreamed of a better father for Jack. I love you Ter!

I love playing with my feet!
If I could pull it up higher...I could put it in my mouth

BIG week at work!
It's official - the St. Louis Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure held the largest Race in the history of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure series!!! We had over 70,802 participants in downtown St. Louis yesterday morning and as of today have raised over $3.4 million for the fight against breast cancer. I can't put into words how breathtaking and beautiful it is to see women, men and children all together for the same cause because they've been touched in some way by this awful disease. I love my job and the fact that I raise funds so one day breast cancer will become something of the past. Thank you to everyone who supported my own fundraising efforts this year.
On to the reason you read this blog...Jack had a good week too. I was very busy with events leading up to the Race so we ate out a lot and Jack was a doll at every restaurant (usually sleeping through the meals). He also got to spend the night with Grandpa and Nana Tonsing on Friday night since I was downtown. Then last night, my parents called and asked if we wanted to meet for dinner. We asked if they knew we were 3 hours apart or if they were crazy? But apparently they missed their grandson so much that they drove all the way to St. Louis to have dinner and spend the night. My dad was convinced that Jack had forgotten him because there hasn't been any pictures of the two of them since Jack was itty bitty on the blog :( Jack didn't forget - he loves his Papa!! My brother Andrew and Terry got to play stick ball this morning while Ben, my dad and I swam in the lake. Jack hung out with Grandma Gordon in the cool air conditioning. Then it was off to Union for a Tonsing family get together. Long story short, it's been a LONG weekend!
Enjoy the pictures:

This past week...
On Memorial day, Terry, Jason and I took Jeffrey and Jack to the zoo. We met at 8:30 in the morning to beat the heat...never in my pre-mom days would I ever have gone or even thought about going to the zoo that early in the morning. Funny how times have changed! It was Jack's first trip to the zoo and he slept through the majority of our visit. But he did wake up to ride on the train and he really enjoyed the breeze! Jeffrey on the other hand had a great time and we had a lot of fun riding the carousel. He picked a jaguar to ride on even though the thought it was a really cool tiger. He kept saying "We're going so fast...do you think my daddy and uncle Terry can even see me??" It was adorable because if you've been on a carousel you know they go like 1 mile a minute :)
Jeffrey and I enjoying a carousal ride!
I love my new stroller!
Waiting to ride the train
