Lions & Tigers & Bears - Oh My!

We went to the zoo on Sunday with Uncle Jason and Jeffrey.  This is Jack's second trip to the zoo however the last time he slept the majority of the visit since he was only 3 months old.  This time was great!  I took him on the carousal and he LOVED it!  But I'm going to take a wild guess, that he had the most fun playing with Jeffrey :)  They rode in the wagon together, shared goldfish and Jack played with Jeffrey's hair and ears during the entire train ride.  Luckily Jeffrey thought it was funny too...

Sweets, sweets & more treats!

Okay so I know it seems like we've given Jack a lot of sweets lately and we have...BUT yesterday was the BIG 35 for Terry therefore we've been celebrating for the past couple of days.  On Sunday night we went out to dinner with Terry's parents and brother.  Everyone ordered milk shakes for dessert and Jack sweetly motioned for a bite from Grandpa Tonsing who obliged...big mistake!  Because then Jack continuously signed (yes our son knows sign language...at least the sign for "more") and if he didn't immediately receive a bite he started to scream in the crowded restaurant.  I think we've finally hit the age when it's not enjoyable to eat out with our child.  Everyone told me that day would come...

Last night I made the BEST (and I will brag on my baking skills) cupcakes for Terry's actual b-day.  They were yellow cake with real bananas and chocolate icing on top.  Delicious!  Jack thought so too...

Ignore the picture quality - they were taken on Terry's phone.
Happy Birthday Daddy!

Soooo good!

More please!

Just can't eat it fast enough!!!

Licking every last bit of icing...

Time for an immediate bath!

Jack's 1 Year Photo Shoot

My dear friend, Lissy Early, with Miss Prissiness Photography took Jack's 1 year photos the other day.  I was waiting to have them done until he could take a few steps and stand for an extended period of time.  Someone should have told me that none of that matters when you try to get your child's picture taken around nap time...ugh!  Needless to say, Jack really made Lissy work for a smile.  As you can see by one (and I'm sure there are many more) he wasn't too thrilled.  But if I do say so myself these turned out fantastic.  I especially LOVE the first set that she edited to look a bit old fashion.  The 'feel' compliments his outfit perfectly.  Enjoy my lil' golfer :)

The picture above on the left is how the majority of the shoot went...good thing Lis is friend :)
He's holding a bright green plastic golf club - can you tell?  Way to tone down that one Lis!!
The last two were impromptu pics therefore ignore my appearance as I wasn't planning on being photographed. But I'm so glad Lissy was able to capture these moments.

Guess who's walking!!! Edited*

I had the best St. Patrick's Day!! Yesterday I took off a 1/2 day to spend the afternoon with Jack.  I picked him up early from daycare, we had lunch with Daddy and then I pulled him around the neighborhood in his wagon for the longest walk ever...we tried stopping at the park but someone had a meltdown because he didn't want to get out of his wagon.   When we got home, we opened all the doors and window and enjoyed the 75 degree weather.  Then we went to our Little Gym class and came home to Daddy's spaghetti.  Jack had a bath immediately after dinner due to the mess.  Usually after bath time it's time for bed but I was being selfish last night and just wanted to keep him up...good thing I did!  We were playing on the floor and I said "Come here Jack, let's go get some milk to go night night" and he literally just walked to me!!!  Aaah of course I started screaming which made him scream in excitement too and he fell down!  But I kept making him do it over and over again.  He can take about 8 steps before he gets too excited and falls.  I'm so proud :)

 Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Okay stop taking my picture and pick me up!

I love my wagon and long walks!

Stop taking my picture Mom!

Trip 2 - Cozumel

This past week, Terry & I went on our second trip since Jack was born.  We went to Cozumel, Mexico thanks to Terry's generous parents.  Thank you Terry Sr. & Nancy!!  We had a wonderful time.  Jack stayed with Papa and Nama (that's what he calls my mom).  He obviously had a good time too and gained about 5lbs with all the mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese that he ate while in Kirksville :)  I don't think they made him eat a vegetable once!  He also had juice for the first time and probably a whole box of Girl Scout cookies...my mom says 'that's what grandparents are for - ha!!'

Dinner on the beach
Celebrating Carnival!
Challenging his parents to a Mexican marble game
The purpose was to get the ring around the Tequila bottle and then pull it to a standing position - it was HARD!
This was the 'entertainer' who insisted I pose for a picture with him ;)

And because you all read this blog for Jack - here is his adorable "Shamrock" picture from school:

Thanks again to Terry's parents for the great trip and my parents for watching Jack so we could enjoy some adult time!

Waving at Great Grandpa while Great Grandma pushed him on the swing

So much fun!

Are you still back there?!

One of my all time favorites

Since this is the last post of Jack's first year and I'm going to print the blog into a scrapbook here are some fun facts of Jack at One:
- Jack is a HUGE Mama's boy - Huge could quite possibly be the understatement of the year :)
- Jack says "Mama, Dada, Baba (even though he doesn't take one anymore - stopped cold turkey on his 1st birthday), Hi (In a really high pitched voice because that's how I say it to the dog), Bye, & Ora (aka Laura - his favorite teacher).
- Jack enjoys to play with his push truck, airplane & car
- Jack loves to be read to every night.  Hi favorite book since he received it on his birthday is "Brown Bear Brown Bear"
- Jack is cruising along the furniture, pushes chairs all over the house and will stand alone for a couple minutes at a time but he's not quite ready to walk alone yet.  Which is fine by me :)
- Jack is a good eater and his favorite foods are cheese & yogurt.  I can tell he has a sweet tooth (like his Mama) because if you give him Yogurt Cheerios he'll only eat the pink yogurt ones and leave the plain ones alone.
- Jack in obsessed with teeth.  I assume it's because he is getting teeth like crazy and constantly has his fingers in his mouth.  But watch out - if you smile at him and he's within reach you'll have a little hand inside your mouth.  He now has 4 teeth on top and 3 on bottom with a fourth one popping through.
- Jack loves to cuddle, give hugs and open mouth kisses.  Although you can tell when Terry needs to shave because Jack will push his face away and shake his head no because it scratches.
- Jack loves Bogie (dog) probably more than Bogie loves him but he's tolerated and will even let Jack pet him for the majority of the time.
- Jack's night time routine consists of bath, books w/sippy cup, and being rocked by Mama (pure love).

I love you Jack to moon and back...on to year two
