Jack and his best friend Aubree.   His other good friend is Jenna therefore we've taught him to tell everyone that he's a 'Ladies Man' :)

 Fun times with bubbles!

Lily Anne enjoying time with Great-Grandma Mary Anne at the Gordon Family Easter.  It was a bit delayed this year due to her birth so we had a 'mock' celebration with eggs and all!

Meet Our Lily Bean!

Lily Anne Lorna Tonsing was born at 2:04am on April 3rd. She was 6 pounds 4.7 ounces and 19 inches long. Her hair is black and very long - it can even hold a clip bow :) Lily Anne was named after both my grandmas therefore we did a combo of Lillian and Mary Anne. Her middle name Lorna is after Terry's grandmother, who passed away when Terry's father was very young.

Lily made her big entrance 5 days early. I went in for my 39 week appointment on Monday, April 2nd at 3:30 and my doctor told me I had 2-3 more days. I left the office at 4:30 and by the time I picked up Jack from daycare at 5pm I was having consistent contractions about 4-5 minutes apart. I met Terry at home and we decided to wait and see if they'd go away...to be honest I had made a new crock pot recipe and I really wanted to enjoy it. It was delicious :) Terry took Jack on a walk and my friend (and neighbor) Shannon came over to bring me her 'What to expect while expecting' book. I couldn't find mine because I hadn't looked at it during this pregnancy. It said once you were having contractions and they were 4 minutes apart for at least an hour you should go to the hospital. Well by this time, it was already quarter til 7pm and I had been having them since 5pm...oops! I called Terry and told him he better come home with Jack. I then called my Mom and we decided she'd wait to hear from me at the hospital before she left so she didn't drive 3 hours for a false alarm. I then called Nancy who said she'd be at our house within an hour (we live 45 minutes away). I was pretty sure this was the real deal because the pain was becoming more intense. When Terry and Jack got back I gave Jack a bath (that was fun), got him dressed for bed and sang him songs...our normal routine and he fell asleep before we left which was great. Nancy arrived and we left the house about 8:30pm. We got to the hospital a little before 9pm. Before I was officially admitted I was seen in a triage room. I was dilated to a 4.5 up from a 3 at my appointment just a few hours earlier. The nurse asked us to walk around the floor for an hour and then come back to see if I would progress any further. I barely made it down to hall without having to stop every 30 seconds. I was determined to see the babies in the nursery but once we made it there I didn't think I could walk back. We were probably gone 10 minutes but it felt like an eternity. When we got back to triage I was admitted into a Labor and Delivery room. I soon got an epidural and a couple hours later Lily arrived. Same as Jack, she was a relatively easy delivery.
It's been 7 weeks and 4 days and I'm officially back in the office today (hence the blog update). I finally have internet access verse just using my phone therefore be prepared for regular updates again. Lily is actually with me today which has made the transition easier. To be honest I'm excited about working again. We're swamped right now preparing for the largest Race for the Cure (in the world :)) therefore I have plenty to keep me busy.
Lily is doing wonderful. She's a champ at nursing (yeah!!) and she's an awesome night sleeper. She started really smiling about a week ago but most of the smiles are still given in the morning, during diaper changes and while nursing. Her hair is out of control...it just keeps growing and growing. I can literally put it in a tiny ponytail on top of her head! Jack has been such a champ. He LOVES his sister and if you ask him her name he will say 'LILY BEAN' but imagine his 'L's' sounding like 'Y's'. It's adorable. Every time he holds her he says 'cheese!' and expects to have his picture taken. He actually now tells me to get my camera at the same time he asks to 'Have it' which are his words for wanting to hold her. I forgot to bring my camera cord but I'll update with new pictures next week.

Maternity Photos

So I never did maternity photos with Jack and since Lily Anne will be the 'second' child and will probably get the shaft in one way or another I wanted to at least do this for her...I realize that most of you are probably rolling your eyes considering she will be spoiled rotten due to the mere fact she's a girl.  However I'm not joking when I say we haven't even set up... let alone purchased a crib for her yet! Gasp...her nursery is completely empty besides an awesome deal I scored on Craigslist for a Pottery Barn Dollhouse bookcase (http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/dollhouse-bookcase/) and a closet 1/2 full of clothes.

My wonderful and talented friend, Lissy Early, with missprissinessphotography.com took these photos for us on Sunday and even though she claims that she's doesn't like shooting maternity photos - I think these are fabulous and will cherish them forever.  I'm going to frame them and hang them in our empty nursery :)  At least there will be something on the walls right?!!

Oh my sweet boy - how I love these pictures...
The one below this is one of my favorites because after Lily is born, we're going to take the same picture but I'll be holding her instead of my stomach and Jack will be holding a sign with her weight :)

The last two are bloopers when Lissy was yelling at me to push my stomach out further...I felt like all the blood in my body was rushing to my head and the both of us couldn't stop laughing we were actually crying!

Look who's two!!

Jack turned two on Tuesday therefore we held his big Mickey Mouse birthday bash on Sunday afternoon with about 30 family members and friends. Jack was surprisingly chipper considering he didn't take a nap all day.  Although I will say we were all exhausted and in bed by 7:30 that evening.  I tried to keep it simple by making lasagna, salad and garlic bread for lunch and served cake and Shannon's delicious cookies for dessert.   Some of the pictures are out of order...
Jack on his actual birthday celebrating with a chocolate covered strawberry cupcake from Jilly's - YUM!! He did not want Terry and I to sing to him after dinner but he did want to blow out his two candles multiple times :)  He was so proud of himself each time he blew them out!

Enjoying a cookie at the party!
Jack enjoyed his "Hostess Ding-Dong" flavored chocolate cake with cream filling cake too!
Admiring his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake.
 Getting ready to sing...
The cake turned out perfect - Jack wanted to play with the characters and fondant "clubhouse" top even after I took it apart to cut into pieces.
 Mimi & Uncle Andrew
Watching the opening of all the presents.
Jack's friend, Patrick, was a good helper with the unwrapping :)
Typical Jack - for some reason he loves to put gift bags over his head?!
He really liked his monkey card from Nana & Grandpa Tonsing
Uncle RyRy flew down the day before to watch Jack on Saturday night so Terry and I could have a date night (and this included a very romantic trip to Sam's to pick up all the party stuff - ha!)
One of Jack's MANY new toys.

A couple of weeks ago we visited the zoo and even though it was cold we had such a good time.  There was no one at the zoo therefore we allowed Jack to walk everywhere and he LOVED it especially the monkey house!

This is an iconic picture that everyone who visits the St. Louis Zoo has to take...

Busy Busy!

We have been so busy lately but it's been fun busy.  Terry and I went to see his favorite band at the beginning of the month.  We had friends over for the Super Bowl that same weekend.  Last weekend, we went to a trivia night and Jack had his first sleepover (kind of - see below), Jack had a short surprise visit from Mimi, Papa & Uncle B and we also got to have dinner in SoCo with Terry's parents.  This upcoming weekend is Jack's big Mickey Mouse birthday party and then next week the 6 week countdown begins for Miss Lily!! Wow...2012 is flying!
Jack in his big boy bed...doing fairly well besides the whole waking up around 5am to climb in bed with us.

Jack loves the reverse camera feature on my IPhone so he can see himself.

Jack and his best bud Aubree (aka Aubee)

Not only are we neighbors but Jack and Aubree are at the same school (and were in the same class up until a month ago - Aubree is a few months older than Jack and was moved up to the next room)

1st sleep over with a girl (gasp!) but I'd say they have a safe distance between themselves :)

I went in for my 32 (1/2) week appointment yesterday and I got to have a surprise ultrasound because my OB was worried about me measuring a little small.  Reality was I just hadn't had enough water for the day and wasn't as 'swollen' :)  But that's okay because Miss Lily Anne is doing just fine and is already a whopping 4.2 lbs! The doctor thinks she'll probably be around the same size as Jack between 6-7lbs when she's born.  I cannot believe we only have 7 weeks left!
