Sorry for the delay but the last two weeks have been very busy at work. Last Sunday, my Power of a Promise event hosted 525+ breast cancer survivors, sponsors and grantees at the Four Seasons for an afternoon of celebration, inspiration and education (do you like that phrase - I came up with it :)) It raised $32,127.75 which was a record for this event because in the past it was only deemed as an educational event not fundraiser. Obviously it needed some tweaking from yours truly! I got the entire luncheon underwritten by a sponsor along with selling two additional sponsorships and raising funds through raffle baskets, vendors and an art show (w/donated pieces that middle school students created!).
This upcoming Sunday, Mother's Day, is our Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Busch Stadium. I'm working with the Cardinal Wives to sell $5 raffle tickets for game-worn jerseys along with grab-bag autographed baseballs. The wives and Komen volunteers will walk the stadium selling these tickets and baseballs. This event typically makes around $20K but I'm hoping to double that this year since it falls on Mother's Day and awareness will be so much greater. The players will be using pink pats, PSAs will be running in the stadium and we'll be signing up fans to participate in the Race for the Cure (scheduled for June 11). We're going to have a 11 year survivor (only 28 years old) throw out the first pitch who also happens to be pregnant and due in 3 weeks! How crazy is that?!!
On to Jack (the reason for this blog) - Jack is developing quite the personality. Apparently he is told "NO" a lot at school therefore he's picked up the habit of shaking his finger and saying "Na Na Na" at you anytime you're doing something he doesn't like. I know I shouldn't laugh but it's down right hilarious. His teachers must do that at school because neither Terry nor I shake our fingers at him. His vocabulary is increasing daily. He tries to repeat what you say to him - for example my dear friend Tish's mom Teresa got him a big picture book before he was born and now it's is favorite thing to read (besides Brown Bear Brown Bear). He'll open it up and immediately start pointing out 'Nana' aka Banana, 'Ooze' aka Shoes, 'Du' aka Duck and so forth...it's adorable. He will look at this book, point at a picture he doesn't know and then look at you for the answer. He'll either repeat you or say 'Da' aka That. He's still obsessed with being outside and going on rides in his wagon. Every morning I deal with a meltdown because we have to walk past his wagon to get in the car for school. You'd think I'd just move the wagon instead of putting him through the trauma...but no I'm mean like that (and there is no where else to put the monstrosity).
I promise to post better pictures soon (we'll take some at the ballgame this weekend!) but here are two from the other day. Jason (Terry's brother) just got back from Disney World with Jeffrey and they brought Jack these Mickey ears. He loves them almost as much as he LOVES Mickey Mouse!

Easter Weekend
We spent Jack's second Easter in Kirksville for the annual Gordon Easter celebration. Papa's birthday also happened to fall on Saturday so we had fun celebrating with him too! Jack got Papa Cardinal tickets and Sweetarts candies.
Jack enjoyed them too!
Sharing Papa's Sweetarts
Uncle Ryan (aka Ry Ry) thought Jack looked like a Seuss character...
Saturday afternoon we had Gordon Family pictures taken with Jack's great-grandparents
(the photo shoot was the kids' gift to my grandparents for Christmas)
Gotta love that hat & sneakers!
This is Jack's "smile" when you tell him you're taking his picture - ha!
Taking a ride to check out Ryan's new digs this coming fall (Ryan will be attending Truman State University).
Great Grandma & Grandpa had set aside a miniature egg hunt just for Jack and he knew just what to do!
He managed to pick up all his eggs and put them in his bucket.
Easter morning with the Uncles and the bunny ears Gigi made for all of them :)
His adorable Easter attire is courtesy of Nama who picked it up at Jack's favorite restaurant - Cracker Barrel!
The pictures below are just funny ones I took tonight - it looks like he has a 'sauce' black eye. He was eating ravioli and decided to rub his eyes...he's also obsessed with pickles now (that's what he's holding).
He does pretty well with his utensils too.

Fun weekend!
We had a busy weekend filled with the Little Gym, playing outside and a birthday party!
Jack LOVES Mickey Mouse so Daddy surprised him with a talking Mickey that he picked up at Walgreens. I'm sure my Dad is rolling his eyes because I talk about my love for Walgreens so often that he thinks I should be a spokesperson!
He was soooo excited!
He did not want to let go of Mickey even at bath time.
It was pretty cool on Saturday however Jack's newest obsession is playing outside therefore we bundled up and enjoyed the sunshine. It's really quite sad because he now cries when you bring him inside. I'm sure our neighbors wonder what is going on because he'll stand at our glass door and tears will just run down his face :(
This is his "I love you for taking me outside Mama!" look...
Best picture I could get of the two of them.
Yesterday we celebrated Caroline's 4th birthday! Jack had so much fun playing with her pink kitchen set and dolls (Terry was not amused).
These two pictures crack me up because my aunt is trying to get Caroline's attention so she'll smile in front of her birthday presents. Caroline never did look up but Jack stood there smiling forever...ha!
Then he decided he was done taking pictures right when I wanted a picture with him...go figure.
He was too busy eating ALL the cheese at the party.

Lions & Tigers & Bears - Oh My!
We went to the zoo on Sunday with Uncle Jason and Jeffrey. This is Jack's second trip to the zoo however the last time he slept the majority of the visit since he was only 3 months old. This time was great! I took him on the carousal and he LOVED it! But I'm going to take a wild guess, that he had the most fun playing with Jeffrey :) They rode in the wagon together, shared goldfish and Jack played with Jeffrey's hair and ears during the entire train ride. Luckily Jeffrey thought it was funny too...

Sweets, sweets & more treats!
Okay so I know it seems like we've given Jack a lot of sweets lately and we have...BUT yesterday was the BIG 35 for Terry therefore we've been celebrating for the past couple of days. On Sunday night we went out to dinner with Terry's parents and brother. Everyone ordered milk shakes for dessert and Jack sweetly motioned for a bite from Grandpa Tonsing who obliged...big mistake! Because then Jack continuously signed (yes our son knows sign language...at least the sign for "more") and if he didn't immediately receive a bite he started to scream in the crowded restaurant. I think we've finally hit the age when it's not enjoyable to eat out with our child. Everyone told me that day would come...
Last night I made the BEST (and I will brag on my baking skills) cupcakes for Terry's actual b-day. They were yellow cake with real bananas and chocolate icing on top. Delicious! Jack thought so too...

Ignore the picture quality - they were taken on Terry's phone.
Happy Birthday Daddy!
Soooo good!
More please!
Just can't eat it fast enough!!!
Licking every last bit of icing...
Time for an immediate bath!
